Our Christmas day in the
desert began with a hike to
a small memorial in a far hill.
Our Christmas meal was in
Gary and Jeanne's motorhome.
Jeanne fixed a turkey breast
while Gwen fixed a Sheppard's
Pie with Italian Sausage rather
than lamb.

I rode gravel today. One
of our desert roads where we
are parked connects to a
paved road, La Posa Road.
But La Posa turns to gravel
in a half mile then joins
Route 72 after 6 miles of
gravel. I rode this route
several years ago and hoped
some improvements had been
made but I was disappointed. The
gravel road has several sections
of deep gravel where the bike wheel
sink so deeply, the bike stops. It
also has several sections of deep
sand where the same thing happens
and I end up walking the bike. The
total ride was only 17 miles but
I felt worse after this gravel
ride than I did after the 100 mile
century ride I did with Ben.
I hate gravel, at least this kind
of gravel.

Gwen and I needed some items
in Parker. We invited Gary
and Jeanne to tag along and
we all brought our bicycles
for a bicycle tour of Parker.
Parker does not have bike
paths but the residential
areas are very quiet with little
traffic. We returned to Bouse
via US60 which passes through
Wickenburg.

Today began with the Monday morning
Bouse Booster Club breakfast with Gary.
I uploaded water twice after breakfast
because we were getting low. By early
afternoon it was warm enough for
a comfortable bike ride.

Cloudy all morning meaning
no solar charging and keeping
the temperatures cool. I uploaded
two loads of water to the holding tank.
I also parked outside the library
for Internet access to update
my laptop and upload this
Webpage. Abby was not feeling
well so it was nearly all day before
she decided to eat anything. I took
her for a run which seemed to help
because she ate her breadfast after
the run. Gwen beat me in two
hands of Five Crowns.

I have been waiting for this
day for two weeks. The
Oregon State Beavers are playing
the Florida Gators in the Las Vegas
Bowl today. I watched most of the
game until I was convinced the
Beavers had the game won. Then
I switched to Washington State
Cougars in the LA Bowl. They were
defeated by the Fresno Bulldogs.
I suspect the Fresno Bulldogs and
Boise State Broncos may join
Pac12 when UCLA and USC leave in
2024. Just a guess on my part since
no announcement has been made.
Last year, no Pac12 team won their
bowl game. I'm happy to see that
won't happen this year.

This is Bouse Swap Meet day
along with garbage day since we
were away yesterday. This time
I purchased loaves of fresh baked
Orange/Apricot and Banana bread
for the postal lady and for the
lady who manages the transfer
station.  I also got 5 gallons of
drinking water, $1, then 20 gallons of
county water for the holding
tank, also $1. Toward the
evening we enjoyed dinner
with Gary and Jeannie.

First morning chore was to
get more propane, more water
for the holding tank, more
drinking water and a trip
to the library to upload the
Christmas parade video which
you can now view. Gwen had
a nail appointment in Quartzsite
so I took my bike and gently road
the streets of Quartzsite. We had
an early dinner while in Quartzsite
then played Five Crowns after
returning home.
